Gateway An electronic link that connects one e-mail system to the other e-mail system.
General accounting system A system that records the financial transactions of a business, keeping track of income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
Generic filename extension A filename extension that indicates the type of data that a file contains, but does not tell the user which software application was used to create the file.
Geosynchronous orbit (GEO) A type of orbit in which a satellite stays continuously above the same part of the earth by orbiting the earth at the same speed at which the earth rotates.
Gigabyte (GB) Approximately one billion bytes.
Global updates The changing of data in more than one record at a time, by means of a computer.
Goods worker Employees who produce and manipulate physical objects.
Graphical object A small picture on the computer screen that the user can manipulate, using a mouse or other input device.
Graphical user interface (GUI) Images on the screen that provide the user with a means of accessing program features and functions, by means of a mouse or other input device.
Graphics Visual images such as pictures and illustrations.
Graphics card An expansion card used to connect a monitor and a computer, to allow the computer to send visual information to the monitor.
Graphics software Computer programs that help the user create, edit, and manipulate images.
Graphics tablet A flat panel that accepts input from a pressure-sensitive stylus, converting the strokes into images on the computer screen.
Graphing software Computer programs that transform complex data into visual format.
Groupware Software that provides ways for multiple users to collaborate on a project, uaually through a pool of data that can be shared by members of the workgroup.
